Just because you are anointed, that doesn't mean you get to take the short way to success or promotion. Just because you are a Christian doesn't mean the way will be paved with roses. Often it is in fact quite the opposite. Instead of roses, many times there are what seems like way too many thorns and way too much time between us and success.
I have a confession to make: My previous business attempts haven't succeeded the way I wanted them to. Recently I realized (with God's help) and had to admit to myself that my lack of success has been partially because I was taking shortcuts and expecting stellar results.
Now when you use the word shortcut, it brings to mind visions of a somewhat lazy entrepreneur and certainly that can be true. However in my case, I was afraid. I would hit roadblocks in my business and instead of dealing with the roadblocks I would ignore or go around them or even wish them away. Well if you eliminate or change enough ingredients in an established recipe, eventually you will end up with a completely different cake. Most times that cake will not come out as good as it would have if you followed the recipe.
That's what happened to me.
I had a vision and I worked hard.
I took shortcuts because I was afraid to ask God for a solution to the unforeseen problems that I encountered in my business.
I ended up not fulfilling the vision.
I got a lesser result from my efforts than I expected.
I was disappointed and discouraged.
I was angry with God for not ensuring my success after I had worked so hard.
I thought God was supposed to automatically fill in the blanks and make up the difference for me so I could succeed at my task. I was both and right and wrong. God does intervene and make things happen for you but only when you come to the end of yourself and your own resources. God cannot address what you don't acknowledge. OUCH!!
What if any shortcuts have you taken in your business? What did you learn from it?
Remain Encouraged :-)
